Today's Harbor for Children
HomeAid Houston and DakotaBlue Homes teamed up to build the last two of six 4,200 square foot cottages for Boys & Girls Harbor, located in La Porte, Texas. Houston Habitat for Humanity also participated in the project by supervising 100 Ship Channel volunteers who assisted in the construction project's framing phase.
The mission of Boys & Girls Harbor, now known as Today's Harbor for Children, is to provide healthy, comprehensive care for children and families in crisis. For children experiencing family hardship, neglect, abandonment, or abuse, the Harbor provides a family environment in a home-like setting. Through its programs, the Harbor strives to help children learn to overcome self-destructive patterns, break cycles of abuse, develop social skills, learn responsibility, and work towards becoming healthy, happy, and productive members of society.
