Santa Maria Hostel
HomeAid Houston partnered with the Greater Houston Builders Association's Remodelers Council, Divine Renovation, The Detering Co., TriFection Remodeling & Construction, and Whodid It Designs to complete multiple repairs and renovations to Santa Maria Hostel's Jacquelyn House. The project included adding drywall, painting the rooms, baseboards, and ceilings, removing doors, replacing the lighting and flooring, relocating the laundry facility, installing individual closets, and providing two new refrigerators. This project is the 7th HomeAid Houston project for Santa Maria Hostel.
Santa Maria Hostel provides housing and services to single, pregnant, and parenting women, female veterans, and their children who are facing homelessness and struggling to rebuild their lives. Santa Maria Hostel is one of the largest multi-site residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment centers in Texas. The agency's mission is to empower women and their children to become alcohol and drug free. Through Santa Maria Hostel's services, clients may complete substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation, acquire parenting skills, develop job readiness skills, set and attain educational and employment goals, gain critical life skills, and obtain permanent housing. Clients progress toward achieving improved mental and physical health, family functioning, and economic stability to support a drug and violence-free lifestyle.
VIEWS (Veteran Initiative Empowering Women's Stability, Skills, and Self-Determination) is an additional Santa Maria Hostel Jacquelyn House program that offers housing to female veterans facing homelessness and assistance in regaining self-worth and hope for a better future. The program offers a comprehensive continuum of care through a menu of supportive services based on individualized needs, including transitional housing for up to 12 months, case management, referrals and information, educational and vocational services, life skills training, parenting classes, transportation assistance, integrated mental health services, and, if needed, residential and/or outpatient substance abuse treatment.
