Open Door Mission
HomeAid Houston and Craftsmanship by John assisted Open Door Mission in adding much-needed administrative space to the agency's East End facility by converting the existing porch into an indoor office area. The project included closing in the porch, insulating and adding drywall, and installing air conditioning, heating, electrical outlets, and door openings. HomeAid Houston was also able to provide new furniture for the agency's lobby.
Open Door Mission serves men who are facing homelessness and other challenges. Open Door Mission provides many services, including a drug and alcohol recovery program, a convalescent care center, an education center with a free GED program open to the public, job readiness training, and other educational and vocational opportunities. There is also a transitional and community service program, low-income housing, and an alumni association.
