Family Promise of Lake Houston

HomeAid Houston is partnering with First America Homes, the homebuilding division of The Signorelli Company, to build “Promise House,” a brand-new Life Skills Center, for Family Promise of Lake Houston, located in Humble, Texas. The 5,800 square foot facility will offer mentoring and counseling offices, on-site training rooms, administrative space, a teaching kitchen, a computer room, as well as a family room, library, children’s playroom, and pet condo.

Family Promise of Lake Houston addresses the immediate needs of homeless families while empowering them to attain self-sufficiency. During the day, families meet at their “home base,” the Life Skills Center, where they complete weekly goals, attend life skills, budgeting, or parenting classes, or work toward their GED Fast Track Certification. Families can access community resources to search for job training and affordable housing. The key to their success is every family is connected to the community through volunteers from church congregations or mentors in the Family Mentoring Program. At Family Promise of Lake Houston, families are given the opportunity to build a new community network to help achieve their goals of independence.
