Krause Children's Center
HomeAid Houston, Bayer Custom Homes, and David Weekley Homes joined together to renovate Krause Children's Center's reception area. The project included demolishing and completely restoring the space by providing new flooring, tile work, countertops, cabinets, and crown molding, repairing and repainting the walls, and furnishing the space with rugs and furniture.
Today, Krause Children’s Center, an on-campus living and treatment facility in Katy, Texas, serves abused, neglected, and troubled girls, ages 12 to 17. Most have been removed from their homes or foster placements for a variety of reasons, such as a history of severe abuse or neglect. The troubled youth often arrive at Krause Children’s Center with serious emotional and behavioral disorders stemming from the past trauma, but after the average stay of six to eight months, they begin to feel a restored sense of hope in their futures. Krause Children’s Center assists the youth's healing process through in-depth clinical therapy (both individual and group therapy with an on-staff psychiatrist and therapists), personal development activities, spiritual care, and a full academic curriculum through their own award-winning charter school. In addition, Krause Children’s Center provides foster care, foster to adopt, kinship care, and adoption services. Krause Children’s Center works with the children as they move toward reunification with their families, less restrictive foster care placements, or adoption. Family therapy is also offered before and post placement.
